Safety & Security

We at Soham Playgroup take the safety and security of the children very seriously. We have strict rules and procedures that are followed on a day to day basis to ensure your children are kept safe.

The main gate is padlocked once drop off has finished and the session has begun and the main doors to the school reception and our classrooms are kept locked. Entry is only gained when a buzzer is pressed and a member of staff unlocks the doors. Visitors are strictly by appointment only and must sign in at the main school office where they are made to show identification. Children are never left unattended and we practice a 1:4 ratio with 2 year olds and a 1:6 ratio with 3 and 4 year olds for all our sessions. All our staff have gone through advanced DBS checks. Children will not be released to anyone other than their parent or guardian unless prior notification has been given to a member of staff.

Ofsted inspects the playgroup and a copy of their report is always available. A fire drill is held each half term and the staff records this. All staff/children are made aware of the fire evacuation procedures on both buildings. Please take care in the car park as there could be young children present. The playgroup is strictly a no-smoking area.
